Map of Ponyville - Plain - v3.2 by Aurek-Skyclimber Map of Ponyville - Plain - v3.2 by Aurek-Skyclimber
Version 3.2 - Created using only what can be found in-show (up to the end of Season 3) and the official Map of Equestria: noval.deviantart.com/art/Eques…

Notes
--------------
1. Anything that is in the green grassy zones surrounding Ponyville proper (i.e. not within a stone's throw of other located houses so I can gauge probable distances) is a rough placement. Examples of rough placement include the entirety of Sweet Apple Acres, Fluttershy's, etc. It's probably in that general direction and placement compared to the other items on the map, but it could be within a very large range of distances from the other objects.

2. The largest change to the map this time around is actually in the outskirts of Ponyville. In the interest of scale, Canterlot, Cloudsdale, etc. have been removed, leaving just Ponyville and its immediate surroundings. On the other hoof, Sweet Apple Acres, the Everfree, and a handful of other items have been thoroughly adjusted to match the official Equestria map and various other features that have come to light (My apologies to Ms. Faust).

3. The (few remaining) dark tan lines in the middle of town are possible building locations. There are still locations that we haven't seen yet (or I missed), so these lines are my best guesses as to where buildings will go once we do see that segment of road.

And YES you can use this map for whatever you like. I don't own MLP:FiM or anything in it, so that handles the legal side of things. And I want people to use the map for whatever purposes they can think of (the crazier the better) so that handles the personal side of things. Anywho, here's to hoping this helps everypony with their projects. I'm looking forward to seeing what turns up. :D

Awesome, any chance you'll be making a map of Canterlot? Or may I ask how you make your reference pictures I'd like to try and make a map of some other places. EverFree Forest, Canterlot, The Crystal Empire, Cloudsdale, The Sister's "Old" Castle, The Sister's "New" Castle, The Rock Farm, Sweet Apple Acres, Fluttershy's Cottage, Zacora's Hut(Shouldn't be too hard, it's an open floor plan), Rainbow's place (maybe), The CMC's clubhouse,  And Twilight's new house whenever Season 5 comes out. All the train routes and the locations of the train stations, ect. I am planning on making a big flash-game. Much Story, Very Plot. Wow!

I'm afraid I'm sticking with just Ponyville for now.  If I ever manage to finish off everything (with everything being a detailed 3d map that's up to date with the latest season), then I might go back and try for Canterlot and the Crystal Empire.  (Note: I'm never going to try for the Everfree.  There's just not enough information.)

How to make reference pictures: Open up an episode in your favorite movie viewer (I started with youtube then moved to windows media player), make sure the video isn't too big (1920x1080 screenshots?  Bad idea...), then watch for architecturally significant moments.  Pause, hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard, paste the screenshot into one copy of MS Paint, select and copy the part of the screen that contains the video, then paste the image into your combined ref image (another copy of MS Paint).  Make sure the screenshots are posted in an identifiable order (I go left to right, then right to left, then back again so moments in time can stay as close together as possible).  That's all there is to it.

As for maps of the various interiors: aurek-skyclimber.deviantart.co… Here's a bundle of them.  Check the season 1 (?) and season 4 ref images galleries for refs of the Old Castle, season 2 for zecora's hut.  Rainbow's place has been seen three times: Season 1 - just clouds, Season 2 - bedroom, Season 4 - Living room.  For trains, try the official map of Equestria.  Best of luck on your game!

Thank you very much for the tricks of the trade! Yes A 3D map of PonyVille would be awesome! I wish you the best of luck on that, given your time and the inconsistencies of the crew that works on MLP. (Where and the heck are the front doors in the school house!!!) And hopfully I can work on my project given the same handicaps. :D

Will you do more of these maps? Maps on other parts of Equestria?

Considering how hard I'm finding it just to keep Ponyville up to date?  Probably not.  If I had unlimited time and no distractions, maybe?

I get it. You came off pretty rude there.

My apologies.  That was not my intent.

I'd love to attempt mapping the various other towns, but, as previously stated, I doubt it will happen due to lack of time.  Additionally, there isn't a lot of data available for most of the other towns, which could possibly lead to them being impossible to map?

i wonder if the warcraft 3 or starcraft 2 world editor programs could be used in this application just for the sake of topography ?
