Map of Ponyville - Labeled - v3.2 by Aurek-Skyclimber Map of Ponyville - Labeled - v3.2 by Aurek-Skyclimber

Photo Guide!!! GO HERE ASAP! -…

1. Anything that is in the green grassy zones surrounding Ponyville proper (i.e. not within a stone's throw of other located houses so I can gauge probable distances) is a rough placement. Examples of rough placement include the entirety of Sweet Apple Acres, Fluttershy's, etc. It's probably in that general direction and placement compared to the other items on the map, but it could be within a very large range of distances from the other objects.

2. The largest change to the map this time around is actually in the outskirts of Ponyville. In the interest of scale, Canterlot, Cloudsdale, etc. have been removed, leaving just Ponyville and its immediate surroundings. On the other hoof, Sweet Apple Acres, the Everfree, and a handful of other items have been thoroughly adjusted to match the official Equestria map and various other features that have come to light (My apologies to Ms. Faust).

3. The (few remaining) dark tan lines in the middle of town are possible building locations. There are still locations that we haven't seen yet (or I missed), so these lines are my best guesses as to where buildings will go once we do see that segment of road.

And YES you can use this map for whatever you like. I don't own MLP:FiM or anything in it, so that handles the legal side of things. And I want people to use the map for whatever purposes they can think of (the crazier the better) so that handles the personal side of things. Anywho, here's to hoping this helps everypony with their projects. I'm looking forward to seeing what turns up. :D

I just wanted to say a heartfelt THANK YOU for just saying plainly in the description 'Do what you like with it!' XD

This is really useful!  I was finally able to decide on a location for my own character's house!  I have decided that it's just south of the Old Ponies Home. ;)

His name is Skill Set, by the way.  Say hi! :iconskillsethappyplz:

Dear Celestia Sweet Apple Acres has gotten huge. I guess founding the town means you get to keep most of it.
Thank you very much! This is a great reference for us people without "map imaginations". Definitely going to use this as a guide in future works.

Map imagination.  Now I know what to call it. XD
This is a great map--or series of maps, rather--but I have to ask, where do you put the "swimming hole"? The one that Pinkie Pie has to pass the restaurant to get to when coming from Sweet Apple Acres? Or do you consider that to be Saddle Lake?

Excellent question.  Unfortunately, the answer at this point is "I don't know" simply due to there being not enough information to place it.  Sort of...  From what I can tell, the portion of the Acres in question at the beginning of the episode are the Eastern Acres (notice the pink trees/Everfree).  Then comes the restaurant, followed by a trip into the Everfree, followed by pond/Fluttershy picnic somewhere near the Everfree, followed by another trip back into the Everfree, followed by chaos.  So all in all, it's probably by the Everfree and also probably on the east side of town.  That leaves two options.  The first, as you previously stated, is Saddle Lake.  However, this is extremely unlikely as the official map of Equestria's sense of scale suggests that Saddle Lake is absolutely massive.  Quite probably Great Lakes massive.  The other option is the pond/lake from Winter Wrap Up (or one of the other lakes that Pinkie was supposedly deicing yet we never saw).  Seeing as we have confirmation of this lake's general position (north of the road to Fluttershy's and fairly far out from town while remaining within sight-ish), this is the more likely option.  Then again, it could be somewhere else entirely as there are no 100% certain position cues.
Well, the barn raising wasn't in the pink tree area, and Pinkie directed her duplicate along the forest's treeline (SE) to get there, so unless it's an inconsistency, I'm guessing the swimming hole is northeast of Ponyville, in order to get a general line between it and the main Acres area to go past the restaurant. It's fudging it a bit, but what can you do.
Sorry about being a little detail focused about it.

I see what you mean (although there's plenty of space in the Eastern Acres to hide a barn without running into the pink trees.  Look at the beaver flooding episode.).  If the restaurant was somewhere between the swimming hole and the barn raising...  Assuming the animators didn't just shove the restaurant in because that's where Twilight was (apparently they don't have a map of their own), that would definitely place the swimming hole somewhere to the Northish.  Plenty of space up there to put whatever the heck they want after all.  Nearly all of their expansions to Ponyville have been in the bottom 2/3 of the town, which leaves the northern zones still rather fluid and undefined.  Pinkie Pie did have to deice multiple ponds/lakes around town after all (WWu).
